Newark Museum has changed its name to Newark Museum of Art
The Newark Museum of Art announced Friday it would delay its reopening until early November, after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.
The positive test came earlier this week, according to a press release from the museum. Staff who were working on-site at the time are now under quarantine.
The museum will now reopen on with “member’s only” days on Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6. General public admission will begin on Saturday, November 7.
When the museum reopens, admission will be limited to 25% of regular capacity to allow for social distancing among guests and staff. Face coverings will be required, and guest temperatures will be checked at the door. Timed tickets will be required for all visitors over age 2.
Elsewhere in Essex County, the Montclair Art Museum reopened earlier this month with similar safety restrictions. Thomas Edison National Historic Park in West Orange has begun a phased reopening, though buildings in the park remain closed.
