The Arkansas Union Advisory Committee is hosting a digital art design contest with a goal of featuring student art on the windows of the International Connections Lounge, in a time when community is something we could all use a little bit more of. Inspired artists and graphic designers are welcome to submit entries to win monetary prizes, either for them personally or for their registered student organization.

The International Connections Lounge, commonly referred to as “the flag room”, is a high-traffic space in the Union, featuring almost two dozen large horizontal windows. The space is open and bright, and its ceiling features the many flags of United Nations member states. The Arkansas Union is seeking artistic designs to cover this room’s windows for the remainder of the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters with student designs that represent the theme of “Community.” All entries must conform to required specifications.

Rob Stagni, director of the Arkansas Union, hopes that the art will continue to welcome students into the space in a new way. “The International Connections Lounge has long been a gathering space for our community,” Stagni says, “and we hope that featuring student art will help bring us all closer together — even while we must keep our distance.” A full list of the specifications can be found on the Arkansas Union’s website.

We look forward to seeing the submissions from our talented student artists and graphic designers, and we cannot wait to feature your art! Please reach out to Tyler Merreighn, chair of Arkansas Union Advisory Committee, at [email protected] with any questions.
