This year’s Ramona Art and Wine Festival will blend live and online activities, refreshing the format of the annual fundraiser for the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project, Inc.
Previous festivals have been held for one day at Begent Ranch on Highland Valley Road and featured artist, vendor and food booths, and art-related activities.
But this year’s eighth annual event has morphed into a three-day event at six participating Ramona wineries. The festival includes wine tasting, catered gourmet bites, a silent auction, and art and vendor exhibitors at each of the participating wineries on Friday, Nov. 6 to Sunday, Nov. 8.
A highlight of the event is the bidding on hand-painted wine barrels during a live auction. The change in format, however, means that the colorful, one-of-a-kind wine barrels will be displayed at several Ramona host locations. Bidding on the barrels is already underway online through Sunday, Nov. 8, with a virtual final broadcast auction of the barrels.
Interested bidders can check out the unique wine barrels at the following locations in Ramona:
Casa Rustica (sponsor and host), 316 Main St. Artists: Karen Riedler/Laura Rosenbusch.
Hatfield Creek Winery (sponsor and host), 1625 state Route 78. Artist: Johnathan Martinez.
Ramona Family Naturals Market (sponsor and host), 325 Sixth St. Artist: Janice Reich.
Ramona Food & Clothes Closet (host), 773 Main St. Sponsor: Chris Anderson Realtor. Artist: Charlene Pulsonetti.
Ramona Ranch Winery (sponsor and host), 23578 state Route 78. Artist: Tracy Weinzapfel.
Ransom Brothers True Value hardware store (host), 1441 Main St. Sponsor: Joyce T. Strand, author. Artist: Marie Bravo.
For those unable to view the barrels at their host locations, watch for Facebook live interviews of the barrels and their artists. The wine barrels were donated by Correcaminos Vineyard, Pamo Valley Vineyards (2), Ramona Ranch Vineyard and Winery, Vineyard Grant James and Woof ’n Rose Winery and Vineyard.
Potential buyers can bid on a barrel online at accelevents.com/e/RamonaArtWineFestival.
The festival will also include online events Saturday and Sunday, featuring each of the six wineries and the festival art and vendor exhibitors, along with a broadcast of the final auction of wine barrels.
Participating wineries are: Correcaminos Vineyard, Hatfield Creek Vineyards and Winery, Mahogany Mountain Vineyard and Winery, Milagro Winery, Ramona Ranch Vineyard and Winery, and Schwaesdall Winery.
Passports for this year’s festival will be $50 for the three days that include wine tasting (three wines at each of the six wineries), a gourmet bite to pair with a selected wine at each winery (one bite at each winery), silent auction and shopping for art and vendor items on-site at the wineries.
A VIP Passport for $85 includes all of the above and also the VIP Gala Reception at Hatfield Creek Winery on Friday, Oct. 30. Due to social distancing guidelines, space is limited at the VIP Gala Reception so be sure to reserve a VIP Passport soon.
Passports can be purchased now at the website ramonaartandwinefest.net/tickets/. Additional information is available on the website.
