Gwyneth Paltrow may now regret announcing her “conscious uncoupling” from ex-husband Chris Martin, but something positive did come out of it. It inspired David and Libbie Mugrabi to settle their own extremely contentious divorce more amicably.
According to Page Six, these art world socialites’ highly litigious, high-profile split, which allegedly involved extortion, death threats, and a literal wrestling match over a $500,000 Keith Haring sculpture, has finally come to a happy conclusion.
The former couple’s divorce proceeding was drawn out for over a year thanks to disputes regarding child support, their massive fortune, the fate of their $72 million Upper East Side townhouse and $3.75 million Long Island home, and arguments over how to divvy up the $5 billion art collection amassed by David’s industrialist father, which reportedly includes 1,000 Andy Warhol pieces.
But a source confirmed to the outlet that after all that tumult, “They’ve reached an amicable conclusion. They’ve buried the hatchet — not in each other.” Another source added that while things haven’t officially been settled in court, “They’re done. They agreed in theory months ago, and they’re co-parenting.”
While David didn’t comment on the split, Libbe released a statement to Page Six giving the Goop guru all the credit for helping them find a way forward. “David and I are best friends again…We have settled our differences and agreed on the terms of our divorce. We have consciously uncoupled happily, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin as our inspiration! Our priority continues to be our children and their future.”
Libbe has also been spotted around NYC with Brock Pierce, The Mighty Ducks child star and Bitcoin almost-billionaire who, much like Kanye West, announced his run for president last month as an independent candidate. Pierce insists, however, that Libbe is just a friend and ardent campaign supporter who is “very enthusiastic about the campaign and what it means…We are very concerned about the future.”
